1976

5 June: Fabio and Gabriel, twin brothers, are born in São Paulo, Brazil.


1986

The twins claim that by the age of 10 they are collaboratively telling stories.


1993

M & B begin self-publishing one-off comics.


1997

M & B produce their first mini-series, "The Sunflower and the Moon." It is eventually published as a graphic novel in 2000.


2001

M & B's My Heart, I Don't Know Why is published in Portuguese by Via Lettera Press.


2004

M & B publish 10 Pãezinhos: Crítica, a collection of connected short graphic tales. They call their stories "Pãezinhos," which literally means "little bread rolls." But the connotation of this word in Portuguese includes the idea that these are anything that is indispensable for one's life.

They also release Ursula, one of their first stories, written a decade earlier.


2005

M & B's independent comic book, ROCK'n'ROLL is optioned by Image Comics and published in November.


2006

Dark Horse Press releases M & B's De:TALES: Stories from Urban Brazil, chosen by Booklist as one of the 10 best Graphic Novels of that year and nominated for an Eisner Award for Best U.S. Edition of International Material.

M & B also publish Table for Two.


2007

M & B publish The Alienist, their graphic adaptation of a short story by Brazilian novelist Machado de Assis. De Assis' work will also inspire their later work, Daytripper.

Gabriel collaborates with Gerard Way, the lead singer of My Chemical Romance, on The Umbrella Academy.

M & B collaborate with Neil Gaiman (author of The Sandman, Good Omens, American Gods, and Coraline, among others) to produce How to Talk to Girls at Parties.


2008

The Umbrella Academy wins the 2008 Eisner Award for Best Finite Series/Limited Series.


2010

M & B release Daytripper with Vertigo Comics.


2015

M & B release Two Brothers, based on a novel by Milton Hatoum, with Dark Horse Press.

M & B begin the Casanova series with Matt Fraction, and Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Chabon.


2018

M & B collaborate with Mike Mignola to further the Hellboy series, contributing to several collections and omnibuses.
